Library Receives "Connecting to Collections Bookshelf"

The Belleville Public Library was recently selected as a recipient of the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Connecting to Collections Bookshelf.

The Bookshelf focuses on collections typically found in art or history museums and in libraries' special collections, with an added selection of texts for zoos, aquaria, public gardens, and nature centers. It will address such topics as the philosophy and ethics of collecting, collections management and planning, emergency preparedness, and culturally specific conservation issues.

The Bookshelf will be useful in ensuring that the library's valuable collections receive the best possible care, so that they can be preserved for future generations.

The Bookshelf has been cataloged and is available for viewing in the Archives section of the library.  The collection is non-circulating.
