Database Authentication
The Belleville Public Library has implemented authentication for all available research databases at the library. These include FirstSearch and Ebsco and all of their accompanying resources such as Wilson Select Plus and NoveList.
These resources are now available at all library computers without having to enter a username or password. For remote access, library patrons will need to enter their last name and barcode number.
To access HeritageQuest and Newsbank, patrons will just need to enter their barcode number. The Belleville Public Library now offers remote access to the Belleville News-Democrat (2000 - present) through Newsbank. The original subscription only offered the St. Louis Post Dispatch remotely. Now, both newspapers are accessible from home.
Access to Tumblebooks is available both in the library and remotely without having to add any information. Patrons are automatically directed to the Tumblebooks webpage.
Ancestry Library Edition is only available in the library. Remote access is not offered.
If you have any questions about our databases, please contact or ask at the reference desk on the 2nd floor.
