Belleville Public Library will host the traveling exhibit "Generations of Pride: African Americans in Illinois" from September 2, 2008 through November 4, 2008. The exhibit consists of six large panels and traces the history of African Americans in Illinois from the earliest settlements in the state to the present time. Each section consists of one or two panels with photographs, copies of documents, and drawings and a separate title panel. This exhibit is provided by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
